Rail connectivity plays an important role in socio-economic development and integration of uninhibited part of the State/Country. Accordingly, as per the policy of the Ministry of Railways, concept of Joint Venture companies with State Government was adopted.

Jharkhand Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (JRIDCL) is a Joint Venture Company incorporated between Ministry of Railways (MOR-49%) and Government of Jharkhand (GOJ-51%) to develop the Rail Infrastructure for capacity enhancement in the State of Jharkhand.

JRIDCL has mandate of development, financing, planning and implementation of Railway Projects that are important for critical connectivity/capacity enhancement in the state of Jharkhand. The JV is also aimed for development of the other infrastructure facilities, by undertaking surveys, preparation of feasibility studies and detailed project report (DPR) and execution of such Railway Projects as identified by the Company or by the private parties, to act as technical consultants and advisors in all related matters.
